Nekogaiwayama and Kouhirayama, located on the north side of the Beppu Alps, are not well known mountains, but the route offers a magnificent view worthy of being called a mountain trail in the sky.
This time, we will start climbing halfway up Tsukahara Plateau and follow a course that descends to the northernmost part of the Beppu Alps. There are no public transportation here, so you can’t go there unless someone picks you up. The mountain itself is 830m high and is suitable for beginners. However, please be aware that the slope along the way is the steepest I’ve ever seen (which is interesting in itself). If the weather is good, my cat, Cia, will join us!
